I was born and have been raised in Missouri, but did you know that Silvey's Soap is Missouri Grown? Silvey's Soap is one of many businesses in the Missouri Grown program that is part of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. When you pick Missouri Grown products, you show your state pride and support your neighbors with their small businesses.
I try to make Silvey's Soap with as many Missouri Grown products as possible. For example, the sunflower oil that I use in my soap isn't just from some unknown supplier. I use sunflower oil from Show Me HH Farms near Hannibal, Missouri. It is a family business where they grow the sunflowers and press the oil right there on their farm.
I like to use lavender and dried flowers from farms in Missouri too. One of my favorite places is Flowers on Phoenix, a u-pick micro flower farm near Tipton, Missouri.
I am currently working on including many other Missouri Grown products in my soap soon! Right now I am looking into getting my hands on soybean oil from Missouri. If you have any great ideas about products that might work in my soap leave a comment below!
